Resultant of Coplanar Force System Lecture Notes

Chapter 2

Two systems of forces are said to be equivalent if they produce the same mechanical effect on a rigid body.  A single force that is equal to a given force system is called the resultant of the force system. Topics to be covered include; Vector Representation, Resultant of Concurrent Forces, Rectangular Components, Resultants by Rectangular Components, Moment of a Force, Varignon’s Theorem, Couple, Replacing a Force with a Force-Couple System, Resultant of a Nonconcurrent Coplanar Force System, and Resultant of Distributed Line Loads.
